Gozo Cathedral
About the Organ
The Bosch organ in Gozo Cathedral is a typical post-WWII German organ in Neo-Baroque style with electro-pneumatic action. The organ has have valid tonal characteristics but certain design flaws negatively influenced the performance of the organ. The organ was completely restored by Robert Buhagiar in 2017. The restoration’s aim was to bring out the best tonal output from the organ, but also to remedy those original design flaws which had compromised the fine performance of the organ. The organ is now the best instrument for neo-baroque organ repertoire in Gozo. It is tuned to the Kellner temperament which gives a particularly interesting flavour to the baroque repertoire while allowing the organist to play in all musical keys
