REGULATIONS
I. GENERAL PROVISIONS
Malta International Organ and Organ + Voice Competition is founded by the Malta International Organ Festival Foundation.
These regulations give the general rules and the order of competition and participation in it.
II. COMPETITION OBJECTIVES AND AIMS are:
to support young talented musicians,
to support international relationships in organ and classical vocal art,
to improve the professional level of young musicians,
to provide an opportunity for competition participants and their tutors to share professional experiences,
to provide concert opportunities for young talented musicians,
to improve the status of the professional classical musician,
to preserve Maltese music traditions and to promote them on an international level, and to establish new music traditions,
to support the cultural life and heritage of the Maltese Islands
III. ORGANIZING COMMITTEE
Organizing Committee is established as a governing body responsible for direction and guidance of the Malta International Organ and Organ + Voice competition

The Organizing Committee sets up Competition regulations, approves financial estimates for the Competition, designates trustees and partners of the Competition, designs Competition program, determines order of appearance for Competition participants, designates program for seminars, workshops, master classes, presentations and other Competition events, designates the competition jury.
It accepts applications submitted by participants, sends invitations, carries out communications to participants, works to design layouts for printed matter, conducts the Competition according to the regulations set up by the Organizing Committee, carries out communications to mass-media and arranges the press-conference, carries out the registration of participants, designs the rehearsal schedule, takes care of staying of Jury-members.
IV. COMPETITION PROCEDURE
Dates and Duration - The Competition is held from November 27, till November 29 in 2019. The rehearsal day is November 27 in 2019.
V. TERMS OF PARTICIPATION
The competition is open to all organists and singers – students, or graduates of High Education schools and institutions – who did not yet reach 45 years of age during the year of competition (2019).
Order of appearance and rehearsals is designated and regulated by the Festival Organizing Committee.
During the Festival the competitors and jury-members may be requested to participate in TV shootings, TV and radio interviews, press-conferences, audio- and video-recordings of their performances to promote the Festival and Competition.
During their performance and rehearsals the competition participants should follow internal code of conduct established by the administration of the churches, where competition will be held.
Entrance fee is :
For classical voice + organ competition 100 Euros (50 Euros each participant of this Duo),
For organ solo competition 75 Euros.
If organist takes part in both competitions, he/she pays only 100 Euros together.
Application fee should be paid right after the confirmation of the participation from the organizing committee to :

VI. APPLICATION TERMS AND CONDITIONS
To take part in the Competition applicants should fill out the application form (see attachment) and send it to the Organizing Committee not later than November 1st 2019 to the following mail-address of the organizing committee:info@maltainternationalorganfestival.com with the notice “COMPETITION”.
The following documents are to be submitted together with the application form:
a) copy of the passport (1-st page);
b) copy of the certificate of music education;
c) curriculum vitae with all organ or vocal teachers and places of studies and work – in English;
d) portrait photo, at least 1,5 MB
e) completed application form
f) complete program to be performed with timing of each piece (part) - in English;
g)the copy of the receipt of the payment of the entrance-fee from your bank
An applicant will be considered only if the participation fee is paid till closing date. Participation fee will not be returned.
Organizing Committee does not review application materials sent by participants.
Each participant will get an official invitation letter from the organizing committee by email not later than 2 working days after submitting the application form if indicated in the application form.

IX. PRIZES AND AWARDS
The Organizing Committee offers the following prizes and awards:
Grand-Prix in each category – recital during the Malta International Organ Festival 2020 including flights to Malta and accommodation.
First Grade diploma and the title of laureate and a stipend of 100 Euros
Second Grade diploma and the title of laureate and a stipend of 50 Euros
Third Grade diploma and the title or laureate
The Organizing Committee reserves the right to award other special prizes and diplomas.
Depending on the results shown within the limit of the numbers of prizes, the Jury has the option:
a) to refrain from awarding any of prizes;
b) to divide the prizes between performers (except for the Grand Prix).
State and public organizations, artistic unions, mass media, institutions and firms can award special prizes and concert arrangements upon agreement with the Organizing Committee and the Jury Panel.
X. FINANCIAL CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPANTS: ACCOMMODATION etc.
Participants should cover their travelling expenses to the Maltese Islands and competition venue.
Organizing Committee will send a list with accommodation possibilities (accommodation costs are to be covered by participants).
The Organizing Committee will send invitation letters for foreign participants who need a visa if requested. This should be indicated in the application form.
XI. PRINTED MATTER
Competition promotion materials may include various printed matter: posters, placards, banners, booklet, files, flyers, leaflets, postcards, envelopes, bags with Competition logo, invitations.

VII. ORDER OF THE COMPETITION
- Competition auditions are conducted publicly.
- The order of performance is determined by alphabetical order of organists’ surnames.
- The decisions of the jury are final, and are not subject to any appeal.
- No more than 20 contestants in both categories may participate in the competition.
- The final placing and awards will be decided at the Concluding Meeting of the panel of the Jury.
Vocal + Organ
- Obligatory Maltese piece by Joseph Fenech “Ave Maria” (can be performed in any tonality suitable for singer)
- One sacred piece from the baroque period
- One sacred piece from 18-20 century
Organ solo
- Obligatory Maltese piece – either Joseph Vella “Offerta musicale” or Christopher Muscat “Dirge”
- Praeludium (or Toccata) und Fugue by J.S.Bach or N.Bruhns or V.Lübeck or G.Böhm
- Piece (or part of the cycle or Sonata or Symphony) of 19-th century or 20-th century written before 1939.
IX. PRIZES AND AWARDS
The Organizing Committee offers the following prizes and awards:
