Elena Yaskunova - Soloist of St. Petersburg State Academic Chapel, Honored Artist of Russia, laureate of international competition.
She graduated from Leningrad Conservatoire. At the Conservatoire’s theatre Elena performed role of Annina in Verdi's "La Traviata" and Rosina in The Barber of Seville by Rossini.
Since 1987 - Soloist of St. Petersburg State Academic Chapel. As part of the choir toured in Slovenia, Serbia, Spain, France, Germany, Holland, Portugal, USA, Finland and other countries.
On the Chapel’s stage Elena had performed leading roles in operas: Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell, Aleko by Rachmaninoff, The Snow Maiden by Rimsky-Korsakov and Virinea by Sergey Slonimsky.
Elena’s extensive repertoire includes the Requiem and the Great Mass by Mozart, The Messa da Requiem by Verdi, Rachmaninoff’s The Bells, Stravinsky's Les Noces, The Gloria by Francis Poulenc, Schubert's Mass, Mass for the coronation of Napoleon I in B flat major by Haydn and Paisiello, Stabat mater by Pergolesi and Dvorak, the Symphony No. 4 by Mahler. Many solos in the works of Bortnyansky, Chesnokov, Sviridov, Gavrilin, folk songs were performed by Elena in the programs of a cappella choir.
Furthermore Elena has a diverse chamber repertoire: she often performs music programmes accompanied by an organ: numerous Ave Maria, works by Bach, Handel, Schubert, Fauré. Special attention is given to the works of Glinka, Balakirev, Mussorgsky, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Grieg, Chausson and Poulenc, which can be admired at the best scenes throughout St. Petersburg, Russia and Europe.
Since 2006 Elena Yaskunova is teaching vocal at the Academic Choral Department of the St. Petersburg State University of Culture and Arts.
