Ansgar Gescher - CantorAnsgar Gescher hails from Westphalia, Germany. He started to study music from an early age, at the "Musikgymnasium der Regensburger Domspatzen" led by Georg Ratzinger where he got a deeper understanding of the Gregorian chants and the following music periods.

Coming from a strong traditional Catholic background, Ansgar got involved into church music in Germany, where he sang Gregorian chant at the Cathedral, and got involved in the Tridentine Mass after Pope Benedict XVI gave the permission to start celebrating in the Usus Antiquior. Ansgar led the "Schola Gregoriana" at the former Cathedral of his town Minden. Ansgar is the cantor of the Tridentine Mass celebrated in Malta at the Jesuits' Church in Valletta, and also plays the cello. |
